The 10th World Junior Wushu Championships successfully concluded on March 31, 2026, in Tianjin, China. Held biennially, the championships are widely regarded as the pinnacle event for young wushu athletes worldwide.
This year’s competition attracted 1179 participants from 78 countries and regions around the world, including 666 athletes across the Taolu and Sanda disciplines. Amidst fierce global competition, Team Canada delivered a historic performance, securing 5th place in the overall medal standings with 7 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
Ji Hong Wushu & Tai Chi College played a core role in this year’s major breakthrough. As the officially appointed Team Canada coach, Ji Hong instructor and elite athlete Brandon Luo led two young Ji Hong athletes to secure outstanding results on the competitive carpet. Furthermore, Master Jennifer Daijuan Gu was appointed to serve as the Head Judge.
Competing against top international talent, the Ji Hong athletes demonstrated the exceptional skill and composure of Canada’s next generation of competitors:
- Max Dong (Boys’ Youth Division): Delivered a standout performance to capture the bronze medal (3rd place) in Nandao, alongside 4th place in Nangun and 5th place in Nanquan. His performance marked Team Canada’s highest placement in the Boys’ Youth division at this year’s championships.
- Matea Cheng (Girls’ Junior Division): Maintained a steady and focused performance in a highly competitive division, securing 5th place in Nangun, 6th place in Nandao, and 8th place in Nanquan.
In addition to the outstanding results on the carpet, Master Jennifer Daijuan Gu also represented Canada in officiating. As a current member of the Judge Committee of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), Master Gu was appointed by the IWUF to serve as the Head Judge, upholding the highest principles of fairness and impartiality throughout the competition.

The achievements at the 10th World Junior Wushu Championships showcase both the competitive strength of Ji Hong’s rising athletes and the international technical expertise of its leadership, reflecting the high standard of the college’s training programs. Under the guidance of Masters Hong Yuan Luo and Jennifer Gu, Ji Hong Wushu & Tai Chi College continues to successfully balance competitive excellence with the preservation of traditional culture. Following this successful competition, the college will continue to utilize systematic and scientific training methods to further advance the international reach and appreciation of wushu, tai chi, and qi gong overseas.
第10届世界青少年武术锦标赛圆满落幕:加拿大队强势崛起,基宏学院师生闪耀国际舞台
第10届世界青少年武术锦标赛于2026年3月31日在中国天津圆满落幕。世界青少年武术锦标赛两年一届,被广泛视为面向全球年轻武术运动员的最高级别的国际赛事。本届赛事汇聚了来自全球各地78个国家和地区的1179名参赛人员(其中包括666名套路和散打运动员)。在高手如云的激烈角逐中,加拿大国家队强势崛起,凭借7金1银3铜的优异成绩位列总排名第五,获得了历史性成就。
作为加拿大队实现这一重大突破的核心力量,基宏武术太极拳学院在本届赛事中的表现尤为瞩目。不仅由罗杰任教练带领两名精英运动员在赛场上斩获佳绩,学院古岱娟师父更荣任本届世锦赛套路项目裁判长。
在青年组与少年组的顶尖较量中,基宏选手不畏强手,在国际舞台上全方位展现了新一代加拿大年轻武术运动员的风采:
- Max Dong(男子青年组): 展现了高超的竞技状态,一举夺得南刀第三名(铜牌),并荣获南棍第四名、南拳第五名,创下本届世锦赛加拿大男子青年组的最好战绩。
- Matea Cheng(女子少年组): 稳扎稳打,在强手林立的少年组中拼得南棍第五名、南刀第六名以及南拳第八名的优异名次。
除了赛场上的佳绩,基宏学院古岱娟师父本届世锦赛的执裁工作同样是一大亮点。作为现任国际武术联合会裁判员委员会委员,古师父本届世锦赛再度受到国际武联委任,荣誉出任本届世锦赛套路项目裁判长,秉持公正原则执裁。
此次世锦赛的累累硕果,不仅彰显了基宏新秀的竞技实力与导师的国际技术权威,更是学院教学成果的集中体现。在罗红元与古岱娟老师的悉心引领下,加拿大基宏武术太极拳学院始终坚持竞技体育与传统文化的双轨并行。载誉归来,学院将继续通过科学化、系统化的教学,进一步扩大中华武术与太极拳在海外的国际影响力。
