Zoom Classes Now Available

Check the Schedule section for class times.

With all that has been going on, I hope everyone has been staying healthy and well. Although we first anticipated that we would be able to resume regular classes in a month or two, it has now been 3 months since we have had to close down. In light of the possible start of phase 2 in Alberta, we have been looking at options for resuming classes for our students to resume their Tai Chi journey and practice.

After consulting with some of you, there seems to be a strong consensus that moving our classes online for the time-being is the safest and smartest choice for all of us. As most of you should know, we started our first online class through Zoom last month, and it has been met with warm reception. Since it was our first time doing something like this as well, I had some worries but I am happy to hear that the students who have attended have found it to be a good learning environment and a worthwhile class to attend. We would love to have our students back at Ji Hong together soon, but knowing that this format can work for us in the meantime, we have decided to set up our new classes on Zoom, starting this coming Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

This new class schedule includes Yang Style Tai Chi, Chen Style Tai Chi, Wu Style Tai chi, Hao Style Tai Chi, Yang Style Sword and Health Qi Gong, and will run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve, we will continue to make  decisions about how to conduct our classes. For now, we are setting these online classes at a month-long schedule. I understand that this is not the most ideal situation for classes in some students’ eyes, but with the circumstances that we are in right now, anyone that is still interested in practicing Tai Chi at home is encouraged to give this format a try for a month, and see how you feel about it. This is a new concept for all of us, so please reach out if you have any suggestions or questions that I can help with. For any students that are new to Zoom, you can contact me directly and we can make sure you can get into the Zoom classes.

Since classes begin this coming Wednesday, please contact me to register if you would like to join any of the classes, and I will be sending out emails to those students with the new Zoom log-in information to access the classes. The Zoom log-in for the free Hao Style class will not be used anymore. Additionally, if these class times don’t work for you and you would like a daytime class, or would like private Zoom lessons where we are able to properly interface with you, please let me know and we can also arrange something.

Thank you for your understanding,

Master Gu
